Advanced thinking skills
Dealing with a University course certainly requires thinking skills. These are usually not taught explicitly, the expectation being that with tutorial guidance, expertise in analysis and synthesis will emerge. Often, this fails to occur spontaneously, or at least remains underdeveloped and subject-specific.
The economic imperative for smart graduates is increasingly to be able to think independently. Thinking can be learned. This workshop emphasises simple tools for better thinking, techniques which tertiary education often treats as assumed knowledge.
